Jazz aka “Sexy Funk” – A great class for getting your Diva on and working the whole body head to foot. Wish to dance with no inhibition to the latest music? Increase your confidence? This is the class for you! A combination of jazz , hip hop and a little risque thrown all into one. Think ‘saucy!’

What to Expect

This is a class for real women of any age or body type who want to get their sexy on.  It is designed for the absolute beginner, and aims to boost confidence, increase laughter, and work on technique in the process of having fun. There will be no clothing removal. This is not a burlesque class, but it’s just as fun!

Your instructor may guide the class through movements that do not work well with your own body – if you reach a point where the movements feel strenuous or painful, please let your instructor know and she will find a modification that is suitable for you.

What to Wear & Bring

Students will need close fitting, comfortable exercise wear that will not restrict movement – we suggest crop-length exercise pants, but comfort is key. It’s suggested to wear removable layers to class to keep warm during the chilly months, but be able to cool yourself if required.  A jazz shoe, or a soft-soled show is a must.  If you need assistance finding a good shoe the instructor will be more than happy to make recommendations.  If you shop at the Dance Spectrum (below Connie Parson’s School of Dance on Portugal Cove Road), and mention that you’re a Wild Lily student then you’ll get a little discount!

Sexy Funk Classes

Sexy Funk: Beginner

Get Your Sexy On!
Class Length: Varies each term. Typically 60 minutes weekly.
Skill Level: Beginner. No previous experience necessary.
Please Wear: Mid-length yoga/exercise pants and a fitted top. Jazz shoes required
Please Bring: A water bottle is advised. A notebook may be useful.
Warm up to help increase your heart rate and get your juices flowing.  The next section will focus on posture and travel steps.  We may change it up and work on turns and the correct way to accomplish this without getting dizzy.  The heart of the class is perfecting a routine to hot music! Once we get the sweat pouring then we will finish up with a cool down and reflection on what we've accomplished. The cost of this course is 10 weeks from September to November.
