Hip Hop

Pops & Locks and so much more!

Hip Hop dance is a refined form of urban street dance created in the 1970’s in the United States that has since been introduced to dance studios around the world.  Although Hip Hop was popularized in the 1980’s, it is diverse and ever changing and has been adapted for studio use in order to share this style with anyone who has a passion for movement.

Using the latest upbeat songs, students will learn basic body popping and locking, top rock and many more elements of hip hop dance.  As the class progresses students will begin to combine all movements into a fun piece of hip hop choreography.  This introductory Hip Hop class is a great workout while exploring new and interesting ways of moving the body to upbeat popular music and it encourages each dancer to find and demonstrate their own style within the different choreographies.
