Okay people! Enough playing around. It's time to keep that summer body in shape! So far it's all been fun and games, hasn't it? Well now we're going to get serious. This is going to be a hard class. You are going to work. You are going to find muscles you didn't know you had. You're going to hate those muscles for a while. You're going to hate Wendy for a while. This class is designed to increase your stamina, strength, and flexibility. Look at those three words, don't you need more of all of them? We're going to move, stretch and push - for the entire hour. We'll start from where you are right now, and if you've already taken class with Wendy, take comfort from the fact that she already knows where that is. There will be a lot of movement. No high impact aerobics, but simple travelling combinations, a lot of floor work, a lot of stretching. At the end of the term you will be stronger. Absolutely. That's always a good thing. This class is being offered this summer as a 5 week class
Class Length: Varies each term. Typically 60 minutes weekly. Skill Level: Multi-Level. Beginners through advanced welcome. Please Wear: Comfortable exercise attire - removable layers encouraged. Footwear at your discretion. Please Bring: Water, and lots of it, and an exercise mat.
ShimmyFITBellydance Fitness: Forget the Gym & Bring on the Shimmies! Previously "Hip-Aerobics"
Bellydance Fitness is low impact & high results with much laughter and fun. You'll start the class with a cardio warm up and some light stretching, then jump into a bellydance-inspired workout where you'll use the basic movements of bellydance to get that heart rate going, tone your muscles, and be a "whole-lot-a-woman". You'll learn traveling movements, shimmies, hip accents, snake arms and all the signature movements of this ever-evolving ancient dance form. Ending the class with some relaxing breathing exercises, some deep stretching and some yoga-inspired movement you'll leave the class feeling refreshed (and quite sweaty!) *Please note this class will start on January 23.
Class Length: Varies each term. Typically 60 minutes weekly. Skill Level: Multi-Level. Beginners through advanced welcome. Please Wear: Yoga/exercise pants and a fitted top. Hip Scarfs, Coin Belts, Shawls, etc. are permitted. No footwear. Please Bring: A water bottle is advised.
